Refund policy

Returns, Exchanges & Store Credit Policy

At Hammer Fine Art, each original artwork is individually selected, carefully prepared, and professionally packaged for delivery. Because original artwork is a unique and valuable work of art, our return policy is designed to provide our clients with an opportunity to reconsider a purchase while also protecting the condition and value of the artwork. At Hammer Fine Art, we take immense pride in the craftsmanship and quality of our original artworks. We want you to be completely confident in your purchase.

1. Return Period

Clients may request a return of an eligible artwork within 30 calendar days of the date the artwork is delivered.

A return request must be submitted to Hammer Fine Art within this 30-day period. Requests received after 30 days may not be eligible for return or store credit.

2. Eligibility for Return

To qualify for a return, the artwork must be returned in the same condition in which it was received. The artwork may not have been damaged, altered, modified, stretched, reframed, cleaned, repaired, or otherwise changed after delivery.

All original documentation, certificates of authenticity, packaging materials, hardware, and other items supplied with the artwork should be returned with the artwork whenever applicable.

Hammer Fine Art reserves the right to decline a return if the artwork has been damaged or its condition has materially changed after delivery.

3. Return Authorization

Before shipping any artwork back to Hammer Fine Art, the client must contact us to request return authorization.

Clients should not ship artwork to Hammer Fine Art without first receiving written return instructions. Hammer Fine Art will provide the appropriate return address, shipping requirements, and any additional instructions necessary to safely return the artwork.

4. Return Shipping & Insurance

The client is responsible for the cost of returning an artwork unless the return is the result of an error by Hammer Fine Art or the artwork arrived damaged or materially different from the artwork purchased.

Because original artwork is valuable and often irreplaceable, returned artwork must be professionally packaged and shipped using an appropriate carrier and fully insured for its purchase value.

The client is responsible for the artwork until it has been safely delivered to Hammer Fine Art.

If an artwork is damaged during return transportation because it was improperly packaged, inadequately insured, or otherwise mishandled, the resulting damage may affect eligibility for store credit.

5. Inspection Upon Return

Upon receipt, Hammer Fine Art will inspect the artwork to confirm that it has been returned in the same condition in which it was originally delivered.

The inspection process may include examination of the artwork's surface, frame, stretcher, edges, packaging, and other components, as applicable.

Store credit will be issued after the artwork has been received and the return has been approved.

6. Store Credit — No Cash Refunds

Approved returns are eligible for store credit rather than a cash refund.

The store credit will be issued for the purchase price of the returned artwork, excluding any original shipping, delivery, installation, handling, or other non-artwork charges unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Store credit may be applied toward the purchase of another original artwork, limited edition, or other eligible artwork offered by Hammer Fine Art.

Hammer Fine Art does not issue cash or credit-card refunds for approved returns.

Store credit is issued after the returned artwork has been received, inspected, and approved.

7. Exchanges

A client who receives store credit may use that credit toward another artwork offered by Hammer Fine Art.

If the replacement artwork has a higher purchase price than the amount of available store credit, the difference must be paid before the replacement artwork is released for delivery.

If the replacement artwork has a lower purchase price, the remaining balance may remain available as store credit.

8. Artwork Damaged During Original Delivery

If an artwork arrives damaged, the client should notify Hammer Fine Art as soon as possible and provide photographs of the artwork, packaging, and shipping container.

Clients should retain all original packaging and shipping materials until Hammer Fine Art has had an opportunity to review the matter and provide instructions.

Hammer Fine Art will work with the client and the appropriate shipping or insurance provider to determine the appropriate resolution.

9. Custom, Commissioned & Special-Order Artwork

Custom artwork, commissioned artwork, personalized artwork, specially modified artwork, and artwork created or altered specifically at the client's request are generally not eligible for return or store credit unless Hammer Fine Art agrees otherwise in writing before the purchase or commission is completed.

10. Artwork Purchased Through a Third Party

Artwork purchased through an authorized third-party gallery, dealer, marketplace, or other reseller may be subject to that seller's return policy.

Clients should refer to the terms and conditions of the seller from whom the artwork was purchased.

11. Final Sale Circumstances

Certain artwork may be designated as final sale at the time of purchase. When an artwork is identified as final sale, it is not eligible for return or store credit except where required by applicable law or where otherwise agreed in writing by Hammer Fine Art.
