Why do People Buy Modern and Abstract Art ?

What is modern art all about ? I believe it's different things to many people. People buy art for multiple reasons. They buy wall art for decoration, original art for investment, art based on popularity of an artist, and art based on interior designer suggestions. The majority of people buy art because they are inspired and emotionally connected to it. 

The common consensus is that modern art is subjective because it generally has abstract design. I believe that art is subjective however, there are certain pieces of art that the majority of people will appreciate. 

I believe at the end of the day it's about the emotion that someone feels about the art they are looking at.
